Great People

Bonnie Nannenga-Combs, Ph.D.  |  Director

Although Bonnie is a talented associate in the Biotechnology/Chemical Group, her talent really shines on canvas.  She began oil painting in college as an art minor and soon expanded her artistic interests to attending pottery classes, as well as painting still lifes and landscapes.

Sterne Kessler does not have a singular view of what makes a successful attorney, instead there are opportunities for each person to contribute their talents and be part of the team.

R. Wilson Powers, III, Ph.D.  |  Associate

Trey is no stranger to the ocean.  While working towards his Ph.D. at the University of Washington he raced sailboats frequently.  After finishing his doctorate, Trey competed in the Pacific Cup ocean race which begins in San Francisco and ends in Hawaii.  Trey grew up sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and has been racing competitively ever since.

A career in IP law seemed like a rewarding way to combine my affinity for biotechnology with my interest in the law.
Training and Professional Development

Salvador M. Bezos  |  Director

Sal has perfected the art of work-life balance.  In addition to his work as a Director in the Electronics Group, he serves on the Industrial Technology Advisory Committee for Fairfax County Public Schools.

I chose Sterne Kessler because of its outstanding reputation, its collegial atmosphere, and the willingness to invest in my future.
Training and Professional Development

Michelle K. Holoubek  |  Director

Michelle not only has a degree in physics but a passion for astronomy.  She uses her Meade Lightbridge telescope to view a variety of deep sky objects including star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae.  Michelle stargazes as a member of the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club.

Sterne Kessler is unique because the leaders of the firm take an active role in providing their employees with opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Training and Professional Development

Gaby L. Longsworth, Ph.D.  |  Director

Retaining and advancing female lawyers is important to Gaby.  She is seeking innovative ways to address implicit gender stereotypes and participates in activities organized by groups like Women in Biology and the Women's Bar Association of DC.   Gaby is also one of the organizers of INSPIRED by the Women of Sterne Kessler.

"We have worked closely with Gaby over the years.  She has done an excellent job for us.  All the in-house attorneys love working with her.  Her analysis and judgment are as excellent as she is.
Training and Professional Development

Anthony A. Davis  |  Facilities Manager

When Tony is on the green, he can bring the ball within inches of the pin.  But when he is off the golf course, "green" is still on his mind.  Tony is a driving force behind the firm's efforts to reduce its environmental impact.

I find it satisfying to be part of a very skilled and intellectual group.
