John R. Bednarz

Mr. Bednarz is an associate in the Electronics Group where he assists in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications.  Specifically, he has experience working with clients to obtain and enforce patents related to internet systems, graphics processing, communications, mobile systems, databases, computer architectures, user interfaces and business methods.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Mr. Bednarz worked at an IP boutique in Washington D.C. where his practice focused on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications.  Mr. Bednarz was selected to participate in the Transatlantic Program where he had the opportunity to intern with NCR in Augsburg, Germany.  While with NCR, Mr. Bednarz served as a software engineer intern with German coworkers to develop point-of-sale software for German clientele.  Mr. Bednarz completed a software engineering internship with the U.S. Postal Service Integrated Business Solutions Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he assisted with development of parcel tracking software.  Mr. Bednarz also has developed multiple iOS apps which are available for download in the Apple's App Store.  Mr. Bednarz has experience with a variety of languages including C/C++/Objective-C/C#, Java, XML, HTML, SQL and has developed under variety of operating systems including Solaris, Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

While in law school, Mr. Bednarz served as Technical Director for Impunity Watch, an Executive Editor for Syracuse Science and Technology Law Reporter and an Associate Editor for the NIABA Digest Law Journal where he had an article published related to eBay v. MercExchange.  Mr. Bednarz also completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Michael F. McKeon of Auburn, NY City Court, an internship with the Crown Prosecution Service in London, England and received awards for excellence in Patents & Trade Secrets.
